Bull and Heifer Development

Our bulls and heifers are developed in Valier at our feedyard, which consists of seven pens. The pens are big in size to allow for proper growth and movement, which promotes an active environment for the calves. They are fed twice daily, with a baseline feed ration utilized and daily adjustments made according to appetite and weather.

Bulls

Bulls are weaned early October and are brought directly to the feedyard in Valier. Our bulls on-test ration is primarily a high roughage ration ranging between 40-46 NEG's with 60% roughage.
Following careful consideration of our bull calf crop, the top 50% will be available in our annual production sale.
Heifers

Heifers are weaned in mid-October. In late fall our heifers are brought down to the feed yard in Valier and are fed a grower ration which consists of 95% roughage with a 28 NEG.

Three weeks prior to breeding the ration increases to approximately 36 NEG's.
